5 Things to consider...
When teaching about Squamish People - or other Indigenous communities
1.It is important to understand your location on our Squamish territory, and how things changed since contact, and how this affects traditional ways of life.
2.It is important to understand Squamish People are 1 nation of many Indigenous peoples, we are a group of Coast Salish Indigenous people. We may have similarities, but every Nation is distinctly different because of their traditional territory and landscape.
3.It is important to learn about the political history of Squamish People and the Canadian Government.
4.It is respectful to recognize that Squamish people are their own people as is every other Indigenous Nation.
5.It is important to understand the concept of interconnectedness to the environment
